Season Three Premiere!

Alright Firefans, the news we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived. The third season of Halt and Catch Fire will be premiering Tuesday August 23rd on AMC at 9 PM. How incredible is this? News of filming being wrapped up and a premiere date. We know how incredibly hard the entire cast and crew have been working to create something magnificent for us.

It will be a two hour premiere and then continue the following 8 weeks at its regular time of 10 o’clock. Halt and Catch Fire will no longer air on Sundays as it has in the past, but on Tuesdays. This is actually great news when it comes to scheduling and time slots on television.

It's so fantastic to see this enthusiasm and passion

Halt is being hailed as the “West Wing of computers” and viewers (old and new) are being told to catch up now via Netflix on which the first two seasons are currently airing.

Here is a little synopsis on season three:
“The third season picks up in March 1986, as Mutiny has left Texas for the big leagues of Silicon Valley. Founders Cameron Howe (Mackenzie Davis) and Donna Clark (Kerry Bishé) search for the idea that will launch Mutiny as a player, but new collaborators test their partnership. Meanwhile, Gordon (Scoot McNairy) struggles to find a place within his wife’s company as Joe McMillan (Lee Pace) builds upon his empire, reinventing himself with a bold play that shocks the Valley and sends him back into the lives of his old partners.”

Now it’s time to do all you can to promote not only season three, but watching seasons one and two on Netflix. Gather round the television screen, the projection screen or the laptop and show people what this show is made of. Why we created this blog and why we fought so hard, alongside the creators, cast and crew to get a season three. This is such an homage to their dedication and insurmountable talent.

Rachel and I would like to thank them, and I know you would too, for this season and the previous two. We know it is a labor of love and genius. It’s so exciting to see where this season will take us and these one of a kind characters.

It will be 9 enthralling weeks.

I don’t if anyone else is like me, but I had to create a countdown on my phone. Only 53  more days and Halt and Catch Fire will grace us with its presence once again.

We’d also like to take the time to wish the creators, cast and crew good luck on the round of actors/actresses submitted for their consideration in the first round of voting. Just as the picture states, it’s impressive. The show up is up for consideration in 6 separate categories. Good luck to Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, Kerry Bishé, Mackenzie Davis, Toby Huss, James Cromwell, Mark O’Brien, Aleksa Palladino, Skylar Astin and Annette O’Toole.

Look how far this show has come since it's premiere on June 1st, 2014!

Voting is now open and all the nominees will be announced on July 14th, 2016.

Here is an edit with all 10 of the episode names, thank you @lpfn

As always, spread the word, keep watching and keep supporting.

Thank you,

Bailey

PS: The Season Two DVD drops August 9th and is available for pre-order on Amazon.

Rachel and I would also like to take a moment and post about the appearance of some of Halt and Catch Fire's creators/cast member's who will be attending Brainstorm Tech in Aspen, Colorado between July 11th-13th.

The lucky attendees of Brainstorm Tech will be treated to the world premiere of the third season of Halt and Catch Fire! We're one step closer to seeing it ourselves. Today on instagram, Joshua Hoover aka Bodie, posted that it was a wrap for him. He's done filming for this season. We're so close to season three's premiere in August on AMC.

What is Brainstorm Tech?

Is is an annual summit held by Fortune; "Fortune is gearing up for Brainstorm Tech, our annual gathering of the technology world’s most influential executives, investors and thinkers"

This is incredible press for Halt and Catch Fire. I know we've all been worried about the lack of press surrounding season three, but a viewing in front of some of the most influential investors and thinkers? That's not only phenomenal, it's such a gigantic step forward for this show. I want to personally congratulate everyone involved for such a triumph. I can't wait to see the buzz surrounding it once the summit begins.

Again, thank you for reading.

Get those MacMillan Utility submissions in.

Spread the word about SEASON THREE and Brainstorm Tech in July.

Finally some progress!!

Hey, maybe a little whining sometimes works, huh?

Bailey contacted me today and let me know that she finally saw an announcement for a Halt and Catch Fire Season 2 DVD release for August 9, 2016! This is great news since I was beginning to worry that there might never actually be one.

There does not seem to be a way to preorder at this time, but just knowing there will be a release at some point (even if it isn't until August) is progress, in my opinion. The information contained at that link is all we know at this point, no sign of a Blu Ray release at this time.

I was also excited to see a tweet today from the @HaltAMC account with a video attached which looked an awful lot like a promo for HCF Season 3! I know this was met with frustration for a lot of you who live outside the U.S. because the video is apparently only viewable within the U.S. This is certainly a bummer and I wish there was more I could do to help that. For those of you who can view it, though, click on the image below to access the video:

By the way, while I was super excited to see a Season 3 promo of any kind from AMC, the video only contains clips from Season 2. I assume all clips which tease the stories that will be continued in Season 3. In other words, no new Season 3 footage was included.

However, I really do feel bad for those of you who weren't able to see it so, for your sake, I will attempt to list a bit of a play-by-play of what was included:

  • First clip is Joe at the WestNet presentation saying "Humans..."
  • ...cut to a clip of Cameron kissing Joe while Joe's line continues "...crave connection"
  • Text saying "Before" and underneath a series of modern-day social media names like YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Google, etc flashes by quickly
  • Donna saying "They've stolen all of our users..."
  • Bosworth saying "They cloned the whole thing?!"
  • Cameron yelling "This isn't happening!" and throwing a bottle against the wall
  • Text flashes saying "There Was Mutiny"
  • Joe talking on the phone to Gordon saying "I'm talking about you and me partnering again"
  • Gordon also on the phone with Joe saying "I'm going to work for Mutiny"
  • Joe slamming the phone down.
  • Cameron saying "This is going to keep happening, we'll never be in the driver's seat..."
  • Bosworth on the airplane saying "Guess it's time to move out to the Left Coast!" followed by the coders on the plane cheering.
  • Gordon yelling at Donna, "I had an affair!"
  • Cameron telling Joe, "Part of me doesn't want you to go away..."
  • Donna talking to Jesse, "Holding hands with Joe MacMillan..."
  • ...cut to Joe looking into the camera from the last scene of Season 2 as Donna's voice continues over: "...never ends well."
  • Ends with promo picture of Joe, Cameron, Donna and Gordon with the show logo. Voice over says, "Halt and Catch Fire returns this Summer only on AMC"

For those of you who aren't able to watch the video, I hope that helps. :)

So, over a week ago I blogged about how little we had been hearing about HCF from AMC. I listed complaints such as no DVD/Blu Ray release and no promotion of any kind yet for the upcoming season.

Since that blog went up, AMC has requested Halt and Catch Fire fanart to post on their site, which ultimately should help promote the show. It also showed an effort by AMC to engage the fans. We now have a release date for DVDs and AMC finally released a short promo advertising Season 3.

Is the moral of the story that whining gets results? ;-)

Who knows? Maybe next we'll get a premiere date!

In any case, I am pleased to see these developments. I think this is definitely progress.

Of course it's still not quite enough and we continue to hope for more. We will post again if we learn of any other new developments!

After two seasons and an upcoming third, we’ve seen such stunning and inspired creations already. Now it’s time for them to be displayed on the official social media networks of AMC’s Halt pages.

As most of you may know, Halt and Catch Fire has always had quite the presence in the world of social media. It was nice to see the network open an official tumblr page when the show premiered, but now it’s time to really show them how talented the fans really are.

If you aren’t a member of tumblr it is fairly easy to join.

Here is the link to tumblr to sign up: https://www.tumblr.com/

You do have to sign up and follow the official tumblr of Halt and Catch Fire to submit your work.

Here is their tumblr: https://haltamc.tumblr.com

There are so many incredible works out there inspired by the show, its themes and the characters.

Even if you’ve already posted your art work online you can submit it to their tumblr page via this link: http://haltamc.tumblr.com/submit

Here is a quick peek at the official guidelines

AMC Wants Our Fan Art!!

So... maybe AMC heard our complaints?

Some of you may have seen posts on the AMC official accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr today. AMC wants our fan art for Halt and Catch Fire!

I was really excited when I saw this. This is exactly the kind of idea I was already thinking of proposing as a fan campaign. Sending AMC our fan art!

I remember commercials on AMC showing off fan art for shows like Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men. I remember drawings, dioramas, food creations, you name it. I know Halt and Catch Fire fans can come up with creations that are just as inspired as those and then some!

You can find out more info on what they are looking for, how to submit fan art entries and the rules for submittal at the AMC Tumblr page here:

It doesn't sound like this is a contest, however, it does sound like approved entries will be posted to their site.

A while back I posted a blog to show off some cool fan art by reddit user Ternarian:

Credit to reddit user Ternarian

This is a good example of the kind of creativity Halt and Catch Fire fans have already shown.

One thing to keep in mind, though... it sounds like AMC wants the contributions to be original fan art, as stipulated by this criteria:

  • All we ask from contributors is that all the drawings, music, and other creations be 100% made by you.

I think this means that copyrighted images from the show used in fan art would not be accepted. But I know I have already seen a lot of original art work from fans. Now you have the chance to send it in to AMC, not just post it to Twitter! And I am sure that if all of you really gave it some thought, you could all come up with something creative and awesome to send in to AMC.

It would also be awesome if everyone shared pictures of what they were sending in to AMC. I would love to share some awesome fan art contributions on our blog!

So what are you waiting for? This is a great opportunity for fans to get AMC's attention and show them how much we love this show and how passionate we are about it!

What’s Going On?!

Hey everyone! Apologies once again for things being so quiet on the blog front lately. Let’s just say that life gets in the way and leave it at that.

I’ve been hearing from some fans lately about how quiet AMC has been about promoting Halt and Catch Fire, a lot of people are frustrated that we aren’t hearing more and I’ve been pretty frustrated too.

Seasons 1 and 2 both premiered end of May/beginning of June timeframe. It is now early May and we have yet to hear anything about a season 3 premiere date. Also, this time last year we were already seeing promos on AMC about HCF being available for catch up on Netflix and On Demand and early teasers for season 2. So far this year, not much of anything for season 3 and no ads for HCF on Netflix other than on social media. So if you’re like me, you’re asking yourself…

What’s Going On?!?

Well, we finally may have an answer to at least some of that…

While watching Fear the Walking Dead last night, I noticed a commercial advertising “Tuesday nights on AMC.” The commercial mentioned The Night Manager (already airing), Feed the Beast (new show premiering May 31), and Halt and Catch Fire.

So from this I gleaned two new bits of info….

#1 – Halt and Catch Fire is moving to Tuesdays

And

#2 – Halt and Catch Fire will most likely premiere AFTER Feed the Beast

Of course this is speculation regarding when HCF will premiere but the fact that ads for Feed the Beast have been running pretty steadily and we’ve yet to see a single HCF promo for season 3 tells me that we shouldn’t expect HCF to premiere the same time Feed the Beast does.

(Also, HCF season 3 is still filming and a premiere at the end of May is unlikely at this point, I would imagine.)

Feed the Beast has been advertised as premiering on May 31, therefore, if Feed the Beast gets a 10-episode run, that will put HCF’s premiere date on Tuesday, August 9.

Once again, this is SPECULATION. I do not know anything for certain.

However, the August date jives with a comment Toby Huss recently made on Instagram:

Credit to @beatriceparis for the info! Thanks!

Frankly, I am happy to see the move to the new night. I felt for a long time that HCF was getting lost on Sunday nights, especially at this time of year. Each season they were up against Game of Thrones for the first few weeks which just happens to be the BIGGEST show on TV right now. Maybe moving it to Tuesdays and starting the season closer to Fall will be good for it.

EDIT: According to IMDB, episode 3.01 airs on June 5, 2016 - not sure if this is an official source, just reporting a new finding...

Bad news for us is it means we need to wait longer than we thought.

Good news is…..this gives the fans more time to….

….you guessed it…..

SPREAD THE WORD!!

Does anyone remember Phase 2 of our Fan Campaign? Did you think WE forgot about Phase 2 of our Fan Campaign?

What IS Phase 2 of our Fan Campaign?

Glad you asked….

Phase 2 is, very simply…

SPREAD THE WORD!!

Right now, the best thing fans can do is:

Talk about Halt and Catch Fire.

Share links on social media about Halt and Catch Fire.

Create awesome Halt and Catch Fire fan art and post it, share it, make t-shirts, phone cases and mugs out of it (or whatever…).

Host Halt and Catch Fire viewing parties and invite all of your friends, family and co-workers.

Be a PEST about it.

Get people watching it and talking about it and then get THEM to spread the word too!

Word of mouth is very powerful and guess what? Both seasons 1 & 2 of Halt and Catch Fire are on Netflix and we have at least THREE MORE MONTHS to get people watching!

After season 1 ended, I used the entire hiatus to tell everyone I knew about this show to the point of being obnoxious about it and get as many of them watching as I could.

This time, I am hoping to have a little army of people doing the same between seasons 2 and 3.

I recently had a cool thing happen to me at work:

One day a co-worker came to me and asked, “Rachel, what show should I start watching? I’m caught up on everything and looking for something new…” So, of course, I seized the opportunity to fill him in! He’s started watching it, has already almost finished season 1 and has been loving it so far.

Guess what else happened? One day he and I were discussing the show and another co-worker overheard us and asked, “what show is this?” “Halt and Catch Fire.” “I’ll have to look it up….” That was Friday, this morning I came in and found out co-worker #2 had started watching it too over the weekend and also really likes it!

SCORE!

Word of mouth works, but only if you talk about it and SPREAD THE WORD!

Finally, a few words regarding AMC's promotion of HCF, or rather, the lack thereof.

I've received some comments from some fans who are frustrated by how little AMC has been promoting this show. I know season 3 is still a few months away but come on...

The AMC website does not sell Halt and Catch Fire merch.

If you visit the AMC homepage right now, Halt and Catch Fire is not showcased at all on the main page.

Halt and Catch Fire episodes are not currently available to view on AMC On Demand or the AMC website.

There has been NO sign at all that DVDs or Blu Rays of Halt and Catch Fire season 2 will be released. I remember being able to pre-order DVDs for season 1 WHILE season 1 was on the air! What is up with that??

Don't get me wrong, I am eternally grateful to AMC for renewing Halt and Catch Fire for not only a second but a THIRD season IN SPITE of very low ratings and I have the utmost respect for this network. But clearly Halt and Catch Fire is being treated like the red-headed step child of the network and isn't getting the attention it deserves.

However, I do not know what to do about this.

I am sending this out to the fans.... PLEASE help me brainstorm this one. Is there anything we, as fans, can do to help?

What can we do to help create buzz?

What could we do to (respectfully) get AMC's attention?

I've always wanted this blog to be interactive. There is a place for comments below this blog, if anyone has any ideas, PLEASE leave a comment and let us know.

Or you can DM either of us on Twitter at:
@racheloretta
@BaileySweet

Is it time for us to rally together again? Sound off in the comments! Give us your ideas!

In the meantime... get out there and start making new Firefans - SPREAD THE WORD!!

Keeping Pace With Nature/Conservation.Org

As Rachel posted before, Lee Pace Fans Network has been amazing enough to host a birthday campaign for Lee's 37th birthday which is only sixteen days away now.

All proceeds going toward a charity Lee has not only been incredibly vocal toward, but active with;
Conservation.org

Here is a direct link to the campaign website:

Keeping Pace with Nature

Here is their campaign description:

"American stage, television and film actor Lee Pace has tweeted about his involvement with Conservation International's Nature is Speaking project. As a result, Lee's fans have been educating themselves about CIs work protecting nature for the benefit of everyone on Earth. In honor of Lee's 37th birthday on March 25, 2016, fans are showing their support for Conservation International and Nature is Speaking by raising funds for this extraordinary organization. All donations go directly to Conservation International. (Disclaimer: This fundraiser claims no endorsement by Lee Pace. We simply want to do something - as a community - that is meaningful for nature. We hope to inspire others in the process.)"

Beautiful and inspiring, is it not?
